hillary clinton has a new bff. here she is with meryl streep doing a cell to at the dinner and had a good time. both of them. >>> to politics now where nbc news has confirmed congresswoman debbie wasserman-schultz will remain dnc chairwoman. two sources say president obama will ask the dnc to sign off on his choice in january. >>> everyone is waiting to see if the president will nominate u.n. ambassador susan rice to be the next secretary of state. she's had her defenders and detractors. both were on the sunday shows. >> it is terribly unfair that she should be the scapegoat for this when really the failures ought to be at the lap of the head of the intelligence community that produced those talking points but none of these guys will say a word about david petraeus. >> when it comes to citizen rice, as far as lind jay graham is concerned i find great fault with what she said on 16th september and in other areas i find her lacking when it comes to being the best choice for secretary of state. >> former president george h.w. bush is still in the hospital. he may not be discharged until this

cuts to go back to the clinton era rates for the wealthiest americans. maybe that means finding a really creative tax reform that eliminates deductions almost entirely for the wealthy. these are possible see teas. it's hard for me to imagine that either side is really hoping to go over the cliff at this point because they both know what it means for the economy and they are both worried about making that responsibility. at this point it doesn't make any sense to suggest that you're the one who is going to blink because that's going to put you sort of in the underposition of the negotiations. >> let me switch subjects completely because this is sort of the provocative headline. new york city mayor bloomberg called hillary clinton and said you should be my successor as mayor. how do you think that conversation went? i think being a mayor of new york city gives you an opportunity to imagine things that are possible but not in real life. i can imagine how hillary clinton would be enticed to take on that smaller stage after her staging as the nation and the world for the last decade.

partner at hamilton place strategies kiki mclean, senior adviser to the 2008 hillary clinton presidential campaign. good morning. >> good morning. >> tony, do republicans sit back and wish governor sununu would quit talking? >> not only is it offensive to a large part of the lack trat, it happens to be wrong. republicans did very well and in fact governor romney did very well among lower income voters. so it's wrong but we shouldn't be talking that way. we should be talking about all americans and economic opportunity for all americans and trying to achieve that. that's the important thing. >> governor sununu of course has made controversial comments before. let me play for you what he said about president obama after the first presidential debate back in october. >> what people saw last night i think was a president that revealed his incompetence, how lazy and detached he is and how he has absolutely no idea how serious the economic problems of the country are. >> john sununu also suggested race was a motivating factor for colin powell to support president obama for president. is there r

campaign between bill clinton and george h.w. bush and no one would have predicted that two two dedecades on they would pretty close friends working on projects together. sometimes it's still acrimonious between former competitors, but it this relationship could being akin to that clinton/bush relationship. >> so let's say he doesn't have any public role in the sense of in this administration. matt, what do you think, what does he do next? >> a lot of people are speculating sort of what he might did. it's hard to tell what mitt romney himself is thinking. right now he's enjoying kicking back. you saw photos of him pumping gas, not a generous photo by any stretch, but other photos of him riding roller coasters at disneyland. next who knows. but he is having an office and the office is in boston. so there have been speculation right after the election that he may sort of relocate for all intents and purposes to the west coast and to his house out there. so it does seem like he'll keep his ties in boston at least. >> good to see you gentlemen. thank you. >>> today's tweet of the day mixes po

also says he's in great spirits. >>> hillary clinton says the government is still figuring out how to handle washington state and colorado legalizing marijuana. >> i respect those in the region who believe strongly that that would end the problem. i am not convinced of that, just speaking personally. i think when you've got ruthless, vicious people who have made money one way, if it's somehow blocked, they'll figure out another way. they'll do kidnapping. they'll do extortion. >>> not entirely surprising, a bunch of lawmakers are leaving congress to be lobbyist. heath schuler will work for duke energy, jason altmire will become part of florida blue, and geoff davis is forming his own public affairs firm. >>> and here is the must-see video of the day. yes, that's bo, the white house releasing these shots of the first dog checking out all the holiday decorations including a replica of him. you can watch the whole thing on our facebook page. >>> and if you read only one thing this morning, now, i haven't seen it, but apparently there's this reality show about a couple of guys in calif

out there is no evidence to show that higher taxes or an impediment to growth. look at the clinton years versus the bush years that came after and see that difference. >> rana, always great to have you here. chris thank you as well. >> thank you. >>> yet another sign that washington can't work together, though, a u.n. treaty that would globally ban discrimination against people with disabilities came up for a vote in the senate yesterday and it failed, even though it was modeled on u.s. law, the americans with disabilities act, and that's in spite of it already being ratified by 126 other countries and in spite of the support of former republican senator bob dole who made this rare appearance on the senate floor in a wheelchair. senator's john mccain and john kerry made an emotional plea for the senate to work together. >> he's here because he wants to know that when a disabled american veteran, our wounded warriors travel overseas that they're treated with the same dignity and respect. >> to bob it's unthinkable that americans could not get over a curb or enter a school building o
